Former Maryland Democratic Party Chair & Hoyer Chief of Staff Terry Lierman, Local Mayors, & Community Leaders Endorse Jared Solomon for Delegate
Chevy Chase, MD – Today, Jared Solomon, candidate for the House of Delegates in District 18, is proud to announce the endorsements of a diverse group of District 18 local elected officials and Montgomery County community leaders. The group includes Kensington Mayor Tracey Furman, Town of Chevy Chase Mayor Mary Flynn, Council Chair of the Village of North Chevy Chase, Adrian Andreassi, and former Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party and former Chief of Staff to Representative Steny Hoyer Terry Lierman.
Mayor Tracey Furman: “I'm excited to support Jared Solomon for the House of Delegates. As a high school teacher, policy advisor to a U.S. Senator and social justice advocate, Jared is running for delegate with progressive ideas and youthful energy and enthusiasm. Join me in voting for Jared, I know he will serve the Kensington community well in Annapolis.”
Mayor Mary Flynn: “I support Jared because I believe he has a deep and genuine interest in public service, the personal skills to act as an effective consensus-builder, and the intellect and conviction to lead. He will work hard to represent District 18 in Annapolis, and we will be lucky to have him.”
Terry Lierman: “From my time in Annapolis and on Capitol Hill, I know what it takes to be an effective legislator, and Jared has those skills.”
“I’m grateful for the support of so many dedicated and effective public servants and community leaders from all corners of our district and county. District 18 is fortunate to have so many unique municipalities and it’s critical that our next delegates understand how those communities work with the state,” said Jared.
“Since starting this campaign I’ve invested in building strong relationships with local leaders in all parts of the district, from municipal councils, to civic associations, and Parent Teacher Associations. I’m excited to work in partnership with these organizations to increase support for our public schools, make our neighborhoods more walk-able and livable, and help our seniors thrive in the community.”
Jared began his career as a high school social studies teacher in Baltimore City and has dedicated his life to public service. He has worked for DC Public Schools and most recently as a policy advisor in the U.S. Senate. In Maryland, Jared has worked extensively to pass some of the state’s most important progressive legislation including the Maryland Dream Act, the Firearm Safety Act, and Earned Sick Leave. Jared, his wife Emily, and their rescue dog Jeeves live in Rock Creek Forest.
